UV Curing Security Offset Inks
At Nanografi, our UV Curing Security Offset Inks combine high performance and stringent security standards for fast-paced printing environments. They cure rapidly under UV light to maximize efficiency, while providing robust protection against counterfeiting. Our portfolio includes Long Wave (365 nm) formulations for quick curing under extended wavelengths, Short Wave (254 nm) variants for deeper penetration and enhanced security, Multi-Fluorescent inks that offer multiple fluorescent checkpoints, and Up Conversion Inks that convert low-energy infrared radiation into visible light for an exceptionally covert authentication layer. All of these inks are designed to run smoothly on high-speed offset presses with minimal set-off and smudging. By significantly reducing drying times while embedding advanced security features, Nanografi’s UV Curing Security Offset Inks ensure every print is both high-quality and highly protected.
What Are UV-Curing Security Inks?
UV-curing inks are printing inks that dry by polymerisation rather than by evaporation or absorption. Exposed to ultraviolet light immediately after printing, the ink film hardens almost instantly, forming a stable, durable layer with strong adhesion — including on plastic and polymer surfaces, where conventional oxidative-drying inks are not the right choice.
In the Nanografi portfolio, UV curing security offset inks combine that fast, controlled curing with security functionality: long wave (365 nm) and short wave (254 nm) formulations, bi- and tri-fluorescent inks, and up conversion inks that convert infrared radiation into visible light.

Applications
Although currency is commonly produced via specialized methods like intaglio printing, Nanografi’s UV security offset inks are an ideal supplement for overprints or secondary security features. This adds an extra layer of counterfeit protection while maintaining premium print quality.
Passports, driver’s licenses, and ID cards frequently employ our UV inks to create hidden images or text that remain invisible in normal lighting but can be authenticated under blacklight—boosting document security.
These small yet high-security stamps use fluorescent markings visible under UV light or microtext printed with UV-curable inks to deter counterfeiting. Nanografi offers practical and reliable printing solutions for this domain.
In industries such as luxury goods, pharmaceuticals, and consumer electronics, our UV-enabled security labels help confirm product authenticity, thereby safeguarding brand reputation and consumer confidence.
By combining UV fluorescent inks, hidden pantographs, and other security features, the risk of counterfeiting is greatly reduced. Nanografi’s high-security inks ensure the integrity of these important documents.

How UV-Curing Inks Work
The difference from conventional inks is in how the film is formed:
Printing: the ink is transferred to the substrate on an offset press in the normal way.
Curing: under UV exposure the formulation polymerises and the ink film hardens rapidly, rather than drying through oxidation and absorption.
Result: significantly reduced drying times, with minimal set-off and smudging on high-speed presses.
Security layer: the cured film carries the functional component — fluorescent response at 365 nm or 254 nm, multi-fluorescent checkpoints, or up conversion from IR to visible light.
Printing Considerations
Printing method: offset presses equipped with UV curing units.
Substrate: suitable for plastic and polymer surfaces as well as paper. For paper-only work see conventional inks.
Wavelength: long wave 365 nm and short wave 254 nm formulations are available, with different penetration and security characteristics.
Verification: fluorescent and up conversion responses are checked with the corresponding UV or IR source.
Combination: used together with IR, visible and thermochromic inks within the same printed document.
Why Nanografi
Nanografi was founded in METU Technopolis and operates as a subsidiary of Ahlatcı Holding, with international operations across more than 100 countries.
Nanografi Inks develops formulations through a defined process: assessment of requirements and application scope, formulation design according to substrate and curing behaviour, testing and validation under application-specific conditions, and production with continuing technical support.
Frequently Asked Questions
It is a security printing ink that hardens through polymerisation under ultraviolet light rather than drying by oxidation or evaporation. The rapid cure allows fast production and produces a durable film with strong adhesion.
Conventional inks develop their film through oxidation and absorption into a paper substrate. UV-curing inks polymerise under a UV lamp, which makes them suitable for plastic and polymer surfaces and much faster on press.
365 nm is long wave UV; 254 nm is short wave. Nanografi offers both: long wave formulations cure rapidly during offset printing, while short wave variants are used where deeper penetration and additional security are required.
Up conversion inks convert low-energy infrared radiation into visible light, creating a covert security layer that is detectable only with the appropriate source.
They are used on plastic and polymer substrates such as bank cards, ID cards and polycarbonate documents, and can also be used on paper where fast curing is required.
Typical applications include banknotes and financial documents, identity documents, tax and duty stamps, brand protection labels, and cheques and other sensitive documents.
